This live album has been recored in 2009 at Sweden Rock Festival. The second live from the DVD has been recorded in Athens in 2009.

If you pray at the altar of Candlemass, you will truly not be disappointed. It is very faithful to the original renditions while making them sound so much more dominant live. If you are not overly familiar with Candlemass, Ashes To Ashes is a good start because, as mentioned, it covers the bases and could introduce you to something new. (Metal As Fuck)

You have got to hand it to a band like Candlemass. They are a band that, despite the ever-changing musical world, sticks to its guns and has delivered 20+ years of doom metal that is revered around the world. Although their studio albums are quite a musical experience on their own, the band seems to become a completely different beast in the live setting. Their newest release Ashes To Ashes, the latest with frontman Robert Lowe, is a good live representation of a band that is firing on all cylinders.

Recorded on June 4, 2009 at the illustrious Sweden Rock Festival, Candlemass storm through a set of old classics, plus some newer material from their latest studio release Death Magic Doom. The proceedings open with Dark Are The Veils Of Death. You can almost smell the anticipation in the air from the first droning guitar note, and you can visualise the sea of heads banging and/or windmilling, while frontman Robert Lowe keeps the crowd fixed on every word coming from his mouth.
